We have a number of vacancies for fit, lively, dynamic people based in South-East London to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis at Music Room London in New Cross Gate. Full- Time Position – Driver, Sound engineer, Tec and Rehearsal Studio Manager

You must be based in South East London, hold a full UK/ EU Driving License and have plenty of experience driving vans – long wheel base Sprinters, box vans – in fact all vans.
It is essential that you know how to set up sound and lighting systems large and small as well as other musical equipment.
As a sound engineer you will need knowledge of digital mixers from Midas and Yamaha.

You must have physical fitness to lift heavy equipment.
A solid understanding of the equipment rental business would also be an advantage, we sell audio and musical equipment so you need to have experience in retail / business management EPOS, accounting software and social media.

The job will involve shift work (daytime, evening & weekends) you will also be in part responsible for the day to day management of our rehearsal studios.
So if you can tune a guitar, play a piano or hit a drum that would also be helpful.

Knowledge, practical skills and motivation are of course key as we are expanding.
But please note we are not interested in your favorite music, where your band has performed recently or where you DJ.

So if you have no illusions of becoming a star in the world of entertainment, but can drive vans, rig shows, engineer, set up musical equipment for music events/ conferences and more.

Job responsibilities

Full-Time / Part -Time Position – Rehearsal Studio, Music Shop and Hire dept

We are looking for a rising star to join our brilliant team at Music Room London.

What are you like?
You are a polite and presentable person, with good literacy/numeracy skills, a confident telephone manner and the ability to work calmly under pressure and work to deadlines: in a nutshell, you get things done.
You are pro-active, organised, and tidy; you pay attention to details and have a methodical approach to tasks.

What do we want?
We are looking for a full-time / Part time staff member, who is clued in, and can work hard when required. Someone who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty, who has a personality and a sense of humour.
A good all-round knowledge of musical accessories, instruments and equipment is essential for this job.
A practical knowledge of Microsoft Word/ Excel /Outlook is a must have. Previous web site/eCommerce skills are an advantage; other online skills and a solid understanding of social media are also important.
You will be trained on database/stock management accounting software – Xero. You are also familiar with EPOS and point of sale equipment.

A good knowledge of Pro Audio and lighting equipment is an advantage, as is a willingness to learn. Full driving licence, and Van driving experience at least to 2,500kg would also be a benefit.

General practical and DIY skills would make you even more valuable.

What will you do?
Assisting with the preparation of jobs/hires/projects and invoicing; co-ordinating and liaising with the rest of the team.

This job is organised on monthly shift pattern (including evenings and weekends), but you will need to be willing and flexible on hours from time to time…
Other task and project work within the competences of the post-holder, as required.

Sound, lighting and AV technician: working in a fast-moving environment where flexibility is a must.

YOU have good customer relation skills, event experience, and a passion for making good events great. You have an excellent knowledge of musical instruments, amps and drums; you are able to multi-task and drive like a pro!

Van driver: with show/event experience. YOU are able to handle Sprinter-sized and larger vans; you have an excellent knowledge of local geography and are happy to make longer trips with occasional overnight stays. You are friendly, resourceful and enterprising, and you know your way around musical equipment. Set up a drum kit? Of course you can.
