Living with the Zombies!
Music Room London London was home for Zombies during the filming of comedy/horror film Shaun of The Dead in a five-day piece of location work. The film stars Simon Pegg, Kate Ashfield, Nick Frost, Dylan Moran, Lucy Davis, Penelope Wilton, Bill Nighy and Jessica Stevenson.

Based in a former Old Library in New Cross Gate London SE14. Romzomcom Ltd who shot part of the film in New Cross Gate approached Music Room London. The locations manager could see the potential and the convenience of Music Room London London and it’s proximity to the Location.

Music Room London London was base camp, housing make-up, wardrobe and catering for most of the five day’s shooting which took place locally at The Duke of Albany Public House in Monson Road London New Cross Gate SE14 and known in the film as The Winchester Arms. The location team wanted to involve the community in the filmmaking process, and I think when all is said and done we responded very well.

Several sleepless nights ensued for the inhabitants of Monson Road, and not just for the Zombies and the Music Room London London team!

Army trucks, military equipment and other paraphernalia trundled up and down the small terraced street through the night – all under the fierce blaze of the set lighting. The shoot culminated on the final night with the local pub being set ablaze as part of a scene with some spectacular special effects never seen before in local hostelries!  Watch a video of the pub on fire below.

Local people can be seen in our Zombie Pics and as you can see, the make-up team had a ball!

A good time was had by all and the film was great fun. If you haven’t seen it yet then grab a copy of it on DVD.
