About the event
DJ Lord Ant and The Montague Arms Restoration Society (MARS) will be in residence at The Old Library Bar, Music Room London on Friday 21st April at 8pm!
This will be the first of a series of fun evenings playing music from ‘The Mont ‘ and discussing the ‘Days of the Montague’, the wonderful local pub which is now sadly closed. In addition there will also be a short film featuring London Pubs of the 70’s which will fill everyone with 70’s vibes. The evening will feature several live recordings on vinyl which were made for sale to Montague Arms customers back in its heyday.
The Montague was a notable characterful local venue in the 70’ & 80’s as well as a tourist destination, becoming a regular coach stop on the infamous New Cross Gate one-way system for tourists inbound from Europe. MARS are keen to see the Montague reborn again as a music venue when the planned development of flats is complete.
There are now six different vinyl albums with picture sleeves the Society has located and will be playing, originally made to sell to the pub’s customers. Lord Ant and MARS will also be playing tracks from the live Montague Arms recordings later in the year - Sat 20th May and Fri 23rd June.
Do join Lord Anthony and MARS for an entertaining evening at The Old Library Bar, remembering good and different times and listening to the amazing recordings over our lovely fine wine and local beer!
